Definition:

  • Proportion of anemia (based on hemoglobin level examination). Individuals / population are defined as anemic if they have hemoglobin levels below:
  • Toddlers 6-23 months < 10.5 g/dL
  • Toddlers 24-59 months < 11.0 g/dL
  • Children 5-11 years <11.5 g/dL
  • Girls 12–14 years, not pregnant <12.0 g/dL
  • Boys 12–14 years <12.0 g/dL
  • Adult women 15–65 years <12.0 g/dL
  • Adult males 15–65 years <13.0 g/dL
  • Pregnant women <11 g/dL, regardless of gestational age.
