Definition:

  • Central obesity, also known as abdominal obesity or truncal obesity, is a condition characterized by excessive accumulation of visceral fat around the stomach and abdomen. This type of fat is located deep between the abdominal cavity, surrounding vital organs like the liver, pancreas, and intestines. Central obesity is strongly linked to a variety of health problems, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and cancer.
