Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) for Tertiary Education

Definition:

  • Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) / Angka Partisipasi Kasar (APK) for Tertiary Education refers to the percentage of youth and adults enrolled in tertiary education (college, university, vocational school), regardless of their age, as a percentage of the population of the relevant age group.
  • GER = (Total number of children enrolled in tertiary education) / (Total population of the relevant age group) x 100
  • A high GER indicates that a large proportion of the population is enrolled in tertiary school, which is generally a positive sign for educational development.
