Percentage of births attended by skilled birth personnel

Definition:

  • Percentage of births attended by skilled birth personnel is the percentage of live births attended by a qualified healthcare professionals, such as obstetrician, general practitioner, doctor, midwife or nurse, who has the education and training to handle normal deliveries, identify complications, and provide care for both mother and newborn during childbirth and the immediate postpartum period.
