Parity indices, (female/male) upper secondary OOS [Draft]

  • Upper secondary school is the second and final stage of secondary education. While the specific ages and durations can vary by country, it typically covers adolescents from 15 to 18 years.
  • Out-of-school (OOS) rates refer to the percentage of children within the official age range for a specific level of education who are not enrolled in school.
  • Therefore, parity indices for female/male upper secondary OOS specifically measures how equal the out-of-school rates are between girls and boys in lower secondary education. A parity index of 100 indicates that the OOS rates are the same for both genders.
