Parity indices, (female/male) lower secondary OOS

Definition:

  • Parity indices, (female/male) lower secondary OOS refers to a ratio to measure the rate of female students and male students who are not attending lower secondary school.
  • A parity index of exactly 100 indicates there's no difference between the out-of-school rates for girls and boys - perfect parity.
  • A parity index of less than 100 means there's a higher out-of-school rate for girls compared to boys.
  • A parity index of greater than 100 means there's a higher out-of-school rate for boys compared to girls.
