Definition:

  • Percentage of children under 5 years who have received immunization DPT. The combination vaccine protects against three serious childhood diseases: Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Tetanus.
  • Diphtheria: A bacterial infection that can cause a thick gray coating to form on the tonsils and throat, making it difficult to breathe.
  • Pertussis (whooping cough): A highly contagious respiratory illness that causes uncontrollable coughing fits.
  • Tetanus (lockjaw): A bacterial infection that affects the nervous system, causing painful muscle contractions.
