Definition:

  • Percentage of children under 5 years who have received immunization: MMR (Measles-Mumps-Rubella). The combination vaccine protects against three serious childhood diseases: Measles, Mumps, and Rubella.
  • Measles is a highly contagious viral infection that can cause fever, rash, cough, runny nose, and red-watery eyes. In severe cases, it can lead to pneumonia, encephalitis, or even death.
  • Mumps is a viral infection that causes swollen salivary glands, fever, headache, and muscle aches. In rare cases, it can lead to more serious complications like meningitis or deafness.
  • Rubella (German measles) is a mild viral infection that can cause rash, fever, and swollen lymph nodes. However, if a pregnant woman contracts rubella, it can lead to serious birth defects in her baby.
